Former GOP Candidate Recounts Giving Don Lemon An On-Air History Lesson: '…Caused Him To Lose His Mind

In a recent revelation, former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has shed light on an interview that reportedly led to the firing of anchor Don Lemon from CNN

What Happened: Ramaswamy, in a podcast episode of Jordan B. Peterson, detailed his encounter with Lemon during one of his early media appearances. He claimed that the interview’s agenda was unexpectedly changed, a move he described as a “trap.”

“I gave Don Lemon on air a history lesson which caused him…to lose his mind,” Ramaswamy said.

“In the earpiece, he had in, he was screaming at the people, who were his producers and veers, they were distracting him as he was engaged in this debate with me.”

The incident, described by Ramaswamy as uncomfortable for all parties, reportedly led to Lemon’s termination from CNN a few days later.

At the time of publishing, CNN and Lemon’s team are yet to respond to the emailed queries sent by Benzinga.

Why It Matters: Ramaswamy’s interactions with legacy media, like the one with Lemon, played a significant role in drawing attention to his candidacy. Former President Donald Trump ruled out Ramaswamy as his vice-presidential candidate, but eyed him for a potential Cabinet role, thanks to his public speaking skills.

Post his CNN exit, Lemon’s new show witnessed a drastic decline in viewership. The fallout with Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk may have contributed to this decline.
