Amazon.com Inc. Founder Jeff Bezos's net worth is $197 billion as of April. The massive sum dwarfs the average American's net worth of $192,700, as reported by the Federal Reserve in 2023.

This makes his net worth more than 1 million times greater than the average person's net worth, or 1.026 million.

Most people can't grasp the magnitude of Bezos's wealth. Consider this: Spending $1 million for Bezos would be equivalent to $1 for an average person.

Here is another statistic to put it into perspective. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average U.S. salary at the end of 2023 was $59,384. This means it would take over 16.5 years to earn $1 million.

Don't Miss:

Considering the vastness of Bezos’s wealth, a glimpse into his extravagant purchases sheds light on the immense disparity. For example, his combined expenditures on a yacht, multiple mansions, and a private jet total $1 billion, which is equivalent to an average person spending just $1,000.

One of his most lavish purchases was a $500 million superyacht named Koru. The three-masted sailing yacht, measuring 417 feet, is the second-largest globally and features luxurious amenities like an in-deck swimming pool and a cinema.

In addition to his maritime indulgence, Bezos's real estate ventures in 2023 were ambitious. He purchased a $79 million mansion spanning 19,000 square feet next to his initial $68 million property on Indian Creek, located in the prestigious Billionaire Bunker.

In April, he purchased a $90 million estate where he plans to live while his $147 pair of homes are reportedly demolished. This property features over 12,100 square feet of living space, a pool and a dock spread across an 80,000-square-foot lot. His famous neighbors include Ivanka Trump and Tom Brady.

Bezos's property portfolio also includes a beachfront home in Maui, Hawaii, which he bought in 2021 for $79 million. The mansion has an outdoor kitchen and is enveloped in lush tropical greenery.

In April 2020, he expanded his real estate holdings in New York City by acquiring a $16 million, three-bedroom condominium on the 20th floor of 212 Fifth Ave. The purchase marked the fifth time he acquired an entire floor in the 24-story building, having previously invested $80 million in June 2019 for the 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th floors. His 2019 acquisition spree included a three-story, five-bedroom penthouse and the two units below it, which he reportedly planned to combine into a single 17,000-square-foot mega-condo.

Bezos also owns a Gulfstream G650ER private jet, an investment of $65 million known for its speed and global travel capabilities.

On the business front, Bezos's expenditures are equally significant.

In 2013, he purchased The Washington Post for $250 million, a move aimed at preserving the publication's journalistic integrity. In 2017, Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market Inc. for $13.7 billion, a strategic expansion into the grocery market to offer a broader selection of fresh food products to customers.
