The BYD Co., Ltd. BYDDY BYDDF plant in Uzbekistan commenced production earlier this year and recently celebrated the rollout of its first vehicles from the assembly line.

The company announced on Weibo that the first vehicles of the BYD Song Plus DM-i Champion Edition rolled off the production line at its Uzbekistan plant on June 27, CnEV Post reported.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu witnessed the event at the plant situated in the Jizzakh region.

The Song Plus DM-i, built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, is a popular model in the Ocean series.

This hybrid SUV is currently priced between RMB129,800 (~$17,861) and RMB169,800 (~$23,365) in China, CnEV Post added.

BYD recently inked a green transportation pact with Uzbekistan’s government to advance sustainable mobility.

Wang emphasized that the start of mass production at their Uzbekistan plant will drive local transport’s green transition, highlighting BYD’s dedication to eco-friendly mobility.

Looking ahead, Wang outlined BYD’s plan to pioneer Central Asia’s NEV industry through innovative technologies.

Earlier this week, the company started selling a third electric model in Japan, home to the world’s top-selling automaker Toyota Motor Corporation TM.

It will be available in two variants namely the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and the all-wheel drive (AWD) version. While the RWD variant will start at 5.28 million yen (about $33,111), the AWD version will start at 6.05 million yen (about $37,939), including tax.
