Renowned economist Peter Schiff has expressed skepticism about the potential success of Kamala Harris following Joe Biden‘s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.
What Happened: Schiff took to X on Monday to voice his doubts about the future of the Democratic party.
“Rearranging the deck chairs of this disaster of an administration won’t prevent the ship from sinking. Harris’s odds of winning will collapse after she debates Trump. But by then it’ll be too late for the Democrats to replace Harris,” he wrote.
Why It Matters: Schiff’s post came in response to Biden’s decision to step down from the race, a move that was approved by a majority of Americans according to a YouGov survey.
Following his exit, Trump slammed Biden on his platform Truth Social, calling the incumbent president “not fit to serve.” He has expressed dissatisfaction with the sudden change, suggesting that the Republican Party should be compensated for the unexpected shift.
Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., another presidential candidate, has advised the Democratic Party to return to their core values to prevent Trump from reclaiming the presidency. This advice comes at a crucial time, as Kennedy’s own campaign is facing financial challenges.
