Financial expert Dave Ramsey rents his four-bedroom brick home in Brentwood, Tennessee, for $5,000 per month.

But it won't be all fun and games for the new tenant. According to the listing, Ramsey has some strict rules for his new tenant: "No Pets, No Smoking, No Exceptions. Applicants must have verifiable proof of income no less than 3x the monthly rent for a minimum of two years."

Don't Miss:

Located in an affluent suburb of Nashville, the 3,776-square-foot residence will be available to rent beginning in mid-October.

The home offers a luxurious living experience with a large living room, formal dining room, and dedicated exercise space. A private home office is a convenient feature for remote workers.

The property has been updated with new light fixtures, carpeting, paint and a modern front door. The primary bedroom downstairs includes a heated tile bathroom floor. Outside, a large screened-in patio, big lawn and three-car garage complete the package.

While many people advocate for buying a home, Ramsey says renting is a good option for some people.

In a post on X in May, he wrote, "Renting is NOT a waste of money. Just because a mortgage payment might be less than rent doesn't mean it's the right time for you to buy a house."

In the post, Ramsey notes that homeownership comes with many other expenses, including maintenance, homeowners association fees, homeowners insurance, and repair or replacement of the house's systems or appliances.

"When the home is yours, all of those expenses are up to you. When you're renting, you're free from that added financial responsibility," Ramsey wrote. "Trust me, ‘house poor' isn't something you want to be. Until you're actually ready to buy, renting is never a waste of money."

This isn't Ramsey's first venture in Tennessee. In 2021, he listed his 13,517-square-foot French château in Franklin for $15.45 million. The property sold later that year for $10.2 million.
