Share:

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - August 17, 2009) - Xsigo Systems,
Inc
., the technology leader in data
center I/O virtualization
, and EMC Corporation, the world leader in
information infrastructure solutions, have announced a reseller agreement
enabling Xsigo to offer EMC® Data Protection Advisor analysis and
reporting software to the enterprise data center market.

The combination of Xsigo virtual I/O and EMC Data Protection Advisor will
provide data center managers with a comprehensive solution to monitor data
backup processes and to respond quickly when issues arise. Through the
deployment of the combined solution, organizations can identify issues
before they escalate and resolve them in seconds, rather than hours or
days, to ensure that backup processes are completed reliably and on time.

"EMC's world-class information management and storage expertise, combined
with Xsigo's I/O virtualization products, provides a robust solution that
helps organizations accelerate and remove risk from their data protection
processes," said Alan Atkinson, vice president of product management at
EMC. "We look forward to working together to ensure that our mutual
customers have access to timely information and comprehensive management
tools."

Data protection processes place stringent demands on the data center
infrastructure, driving large traffic volumes that may strain available
capacity and degrade performance. Traffic bottlenecks, which can lead to
incomplete data protection processes, may be difficult to detect and
impossible to resolve in real time. EMC Data Protection Advisor lets IT
managers pinpoint problem areas as they occur, while Xsigo virtual I/O
provides the means to address those issues in seconds, rather than the
hours or days required with traditional I/O.

"The synergy between EMC and Xsigo I/O virtualization offers significant
value to enterprise IT managers as they strive to increase their data
protection capabilities," said Erik Hardy, vice president of worldwide
sales at Xsigo. "This integrated solution provides organizations with the
ability to monitor critical processes and to provide faster and more
effective problem resolution."

EMC Data Protection Advisor software enables backup reporting, alerting,
monitoring, and analysis of heterogeneous, physical and virtual
infrastructures, helping IT managers make quick, informed decisions,
resolve problems faster, and meet service level agreements. The software
also helps customers:

-- Improve performance through efficient enforcement and tracking across
the backup and storage infrastructure
-- Identifies potential data protection problems before they escalate
-- Helps troubleshoot problems for fast resolution and improved
operations

Xsigo's flagship product, the Xsigo I/O Director, streamlines
infrastructure management with I/O virtualization technology.

-- Configures storage and network connectivity to servers in real-time
-- Delivers to each server 20Gb of bandwidth that can be dynamically
allocated to application or data protection requirements
-- Provides 1G Ethernet, 10G Ethernet, and Fibre Channel connections
-- Enhances performance with quality-of-service features that reduce the
risk of I/O resource contention
