Market Overview

NASDAQ Most Traded, November 23

Share:

Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) led the Nasdaq volume pack, trading up 7 cents to $15.45 on the day. The major news for the company wasn’t its own; arch-rival Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) announced that it was to buy display advertising Teracent. The announcement likely didn’t faze trading in Yahoo! shares, as Google’s move is consistent with that company’s stated ambition to buy an average of one small company per month.

Pharmaceutical stock Mylan (NASDAQ: MYL) also traded briskly, still in the wake of the FDA’s approval of a new acid reflux disease drug developed by the company’s subsidiary. Mylan stock was up 43 cents on the day to close at $17.98.

Chinese seed crop specialist Origin Agritech (NASDAQ: SEED) more than doubled in stock price on the day, to $10.45. The jump comes on the heels of China’s Ministry of Agriculture granting the company de facto final approval for its genetically modified phytase corn.

Venerable software provider CA (NASDAQ: CA) traded largely sideways on healthy volume, ending the day 69 cents up at $22.55. The firm ended last week by completing its $200 million acquisition of NetQoS, a network management software company. CA said that NetQoS would operate as an independent entity within CA’s structure.
