Joe Rogan Says People Don't Realize How Quickly Things Can Collapse: 'Just How Los Angeles Fell Apart The US Could Fall Apart Too'

Joe Rogan warned that the U.S. could collapse faster than most people realize, comparing it to the supposed rapid decline of Los Angeles. In a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” with comedian and podcaster Joey Diaz, Rogan urged listeners to stay aware of how fragile stability can be.

“It’s a different world out there, but it could go this way here,” Rogan said. “Just how Los Angeles fell apart, the United States could fall apart too.”

‘It Can Happen Anywhere’

Rogan pointed to Iran as an example of how quickly a country can change. “Look at Iran. We were looking at photographs from the 1970s. Girls had miniskirts, they all looked really hot, the guys had no shirts on with six-packs walking down the street, everyone’s smiling. It looks like Europe,” he said. “Now it’s a religious country run by a dictatorship. You criticize the government, they execute you.”

He recalled how an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling was executed after allegedly speaking against the Iranian government, despite international efforts to intervene. “You don’t even have to have really spoken against the government,” Rogan said. “You just have to be accused.”

‘It Could Go That Way Here Too’

Rogan shared a story about a friend’s hacked Twitter account to illustrate how easily someone could be falsely accused in a surveillance-heavy state. “Someone could easily get your account… start posting stuff for you against the government, then let’s go round them up.”

He continued, “Then, if you don’t have any due process, that’s the kind of sh*t that dictators do they—just round you up.”

Rogan emphasized how comfortable life in America can make people complacent. While people are “hanging out in Austin eating barbecue, it could go that way here too, just like it went that way in Iran,” he said.

‘Automation Is Coming’

The discussion then moved to automation and the economic changes it could result in. Rogan mentioned a conversation he had with former presidential candidate Andrew Yang, who warned about entire industries being wiped out by robots. “There’s ports in China now where it’s 100% controlled by robots,” Rogan said. “They’re going to have electric trucks that drive themselves.”

Diaz linked the automation threat to recent strikes by longshoremen in the U.S. “They know it. They don’t have much time left,” he said.

‘We’ve Got to Bring the Country Back’

Diaz reflected on his travels as a comedian, seeing firsthand how industrial cities like Detroit, Cleveland, and Buffalo, New York, were once booming but are now shells of what they used to be.  “Now, half the stuff is closed down.”

Rogan and Diaz agreed that reviving domestic manufacturing is key. “If you’re going to bring this country back, it’s got to start with that,” Diaz said. “We’ve got to get this country hopping again.”

They criticized corporations for moving jobs overseas to cut costs, pointing to Ross Perot’s 1990s warnings about the North American Free Trade Agreement and the “giant sucking sound” of jobs leaving America. Rogan praised Perot as “a real American” who was forced out of politics after receiving threats against his family.
