Facebook Inc FB's Messenger platform can now interact with businesses to place orders and retrieve information.
TechCrunch offered an example that users can send a message via Messenger to 1-800-Flowers and place an order. The popular blog added that Facebook's Messenger uses artificial intelligence and natural language processing (along with some human help) to fulfill a customer order or request.
Chatbots will also be able to respond with images, links, and call to action buttons - including making reservations at a restaurant or reviewing an ecommerce order.
Shares of Facebook were trading higher by nearly 2 percent Tuesday afternoon.
