that its Principal Research Scientist Dr.
Darius Walczak and Senior Solutions Architect Dr. David McCaffrey
will deliver addresses at the 28th
European Conference on Operational Research – EURO 2016. For the
first time in its 40-year history, the conference will be held in
Poland, July 3-5, at the Poznań University of Technology, one of the
leading European centers in decision analysis, optimization, project
management and scheduling.
EURO – the European Association of Operational Research Society – is a
regional group associated with IFORS, the International Federation of
Operational Research Societies, headquartered in Switzerland. The
organizations are dedicated to promoting operational research throughout
Europe.
At EURO 2016, Walczak will lead a session dedicated to revenue
management in the airline industry titled Constrained Markov Decision
Processes in Revenue Management. He will discuss optimization that
helps companies balance trade-offs such as revenue and load factor, and
analyze theoretical results and their ability to be implemented in
real-life revenue management and pricing decisions.
McCaffrey's presentation – Dynamic Programming Algorithms for Optimal
Upgrading – will uncover solutions and conditions that airlines can
use for estimating the financial benefits of dynamically managing
upgrades. While most airlines today employ static approaches for
managing upgrades, his research compares and contrasts new dynamic
capabilities that help airlines generate meaningful revenue growth.
