The Rock Turns 45: Here's A Look At His Wildly Successful Career

One of the most popular and successful action movie stars, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson turned 45 years old on May 2.

To celebrate The Rock’s special occasion, Benzinga took a look back at the four most successful business ventures of his career.

Professional Wrestling

Of course, the world got to know Johnson as the “The Rock” when he was a full-time talent for World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. WWE.

The self-proclaimed “People’s Champ” won 10 world titles during his WWE career, which began back in 1996. The Rock was a huge box office draw for WWE and even main-evented the most bought pay-per-view event in company history, WrestleMania XXVIII.

Endorsements

Earlier this year, The Rock signed a new endorsement deal with Ford Motor Company F worth as much as $15 million annually. The Rock has also had endorsement deals with Under Armour Inc UAA and Got Milk?

The site MoneyNation estimates The Rock has earned more than $50 million in endorsements in his career.

Movie Production

The Rock’s production studio, Seven Bucks Productions, has had big hits with shows like Spike TV’s “Rock the Troops” and big movies like “Baywatch,” which hits theaters later in May. Seven Bucks’ biggest hit, however, may be Time Warner Inc TWX’s “Ballers,” which airs on HBO.

MoneyNation estimates that the Rock has earned more than $3.2 million from his production ventures so far.

Acting

The Rock’s box office success as a leading Hollywood action star is certainly the biggest success of his career. The Rock was the highest-earning actor in the world in 2016, and MoneyNation estimates that he has earned more than $180 million from his movie roles. No less than five of the Rock’s movies have a lifetime box office gross of at least $200 million.

His biggest box office success is Comcast Corporation CMCSA’s “Furious 7,” which grossed $353.0 million.
