Baptist Health System Installs Seven z.one Ultrasound Systems From ZONARE Medical Systems

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - August 10, 2009) - ZONARE Medical Systems, Inc. announced it has installed seven z.one ultrasound systems in three hospitals that make up Baptist Health system, including Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center East and Prattville Baptist Hospital. The seven new z.one systems will be used in both Radiology and OB/GYN Departments as well as for training research. Baptist Health is central Alabama's largest healthcare provider.

"The ZONARE systems offer excellent imaging quality and performance at half the cost compared to the larger ultrasound systems from competing manufacturers," said Jeff Hicks, RT, MHSA, vice president, Ancillary Services, Baptist Medical Center South. "With the new z.one systems, we have technology that performs at a premium level with no sacrifice to image quality, yet is smaller than conventional systems, therefore you get more technology into your building. As a result, I believe the z.one systems will change the way ultrasound is used going forward."

Baptist Medical Center South is a tertiary and teaching hospital. The z.one systems will be used for research including a Magellan Venous research study with the University of Alabama, of which Baptist Health shares a health services affiliation. Baptist Medical Center East is among the top four hospitals in the state for labor and delivery where the z.one systems will be used in all facets of obstetrics and gynecological imaging examinations.

The z.one ultrasound system is a premium-quality, Convertible UltrasoundT platform based on proprietary Zone SonographyT technology. Clinicians are able to easily convert the z.one system from a full-featured, cart-based system into a premium compact ultrasound system without sacrificing image quality or performance. As a result, demanding clinical studies can be done in a variety of clinical settings with high diagnostic confidence.

"ZONARE is pleased that the z.one ultrasound platform will address Baptist Health system's clinical and diagnostic ultrasound imaging needs, and we look forward to a long relationship with Baptist Health," said Mark Miller, vice president of sales and marketing, ZONARE Medical Systems. "We are committed to offering premium performance, full-featured ultrasound systems and ensuring that our customers' positive experience with our technology continues well into the future."

The z.one ultrasound platform's software-based architecture allows its performance to continue to improve as greater processing power becomes available. System software upgrades can be downloaded over the internet.
