Route1 Inc., (TSX VENTURE:ROI) a security and identity-based services company, today announced that it has introduced the beta version of the MobiKEY(R) Fusion, an identity validation device that supports government-issued identity and access cards, powered by MobiNET(R). Route1 will demonstrate the MobiKEY Fusion at the U.S. General Services Administration's 2009 Network Services Conference in Chicago, Illinois from August 10 to 13, 2009, with Qwest Government Services (Qwest) in Booth 411.
The MobiKEY Fusion empowers defense and military personnel, civilian government employees and eligible contractors to securely access data remotely without the need for multi-vendor communications packages, VPNs or other cumbersome hardware. The MobiKEY Fusion does not require pre-installed software and can leverage any remote computer with Internet access to make a secure connection. This secure connection ensures that accessed data cannot be transferred between computers, ensuring that a user leaves zero footprint or data on the remote computer. Furthermore, the remote computer does not act as a node on an enterprise network, keeping the network protected against viruses and malware. Built for security, mobility and simplicity, this patent-pending device is one of the most powerful, portable and easy-to-use multi-factor authentication technologies available today.
Meeting the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, or HSPD-12, the MobiKEY Fusion currently supports government-issued identity cards such as the US Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), the Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card or the First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC) card.
"The MobiKEY Fusion, with support for the US Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), is an important and significant development in the Qwest strategy to assist the DoD with mobility, continuity of operations planning (COOP) and rapid personnel deployment. The MobiKEY Fusion enables field personnel to securely access digital resources and enforce identity management and security policies for information assurance," said Curtis Levinson, Chief Security Officer of Qwest Government Services. "Initial demonstrations of the MobiKEY Fusion have excited groups like the reserve commands who have struggled with access from their civilian PCs to DoD applications for many years."
"The MobiKEY Fusion addresses a need especially within the US government and military to incorporate government-issued identity cards and comply with HSPD-12. Our TruOFFICE service and DEFIMNET identity and security platform already deployed within the US government have been well received, and now with additional support for their existing identity cards and Public Key Infrastructure, we look forward to increased traction among departments with this requirement," said Dean Peloso, Interim President and CEO of Route1.
