CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwire - August 13, 2009) - Communications market research firm Infonetics Research released results from its Enterprise Acceptance of Software-as-a-Service: End-User Survey, published this week as part of its Network Security Continuous Research Service (CRS).
The survey provides a strategic overview of end-user plans, drivers and barriers to deploying SaaS as a security solution, and ratings of 5 SaaS vendors: Cisco, Google/Postini, Qualys, ScanSafe, and zScaler.
ANALYST NOTE
"Many companies who move to SaaS (or other forms of managed services) do so because it provides them access to better technology than they could purchase in product form. In addition, going with a service model ensures their technology stays updated. This leads to stronger security deployments overall, and for 81% of our security SaaS survey respondents, that's a key driver for moving to SaaS," says Jeff Wilson, Infonetics Research's principal analyst for network security.
SAAS END-USER SURVEY HIGHLIGHTS
-- The top 3 security SaaS vendors from a brand-awareness perspective are an interesting mix of top client vendors: -- McAfee, which established an entire SaaS business unit in late 2008 -- ScanSafe, the most visible standalone security SaaS vendor -- Qualys, which has been offering vulnerability testing using a SaaS model for nearly a decade -- 82% of the respondents plan to augment, rather than replace, their existing security deployments with a SaaS solution
REPORT SYNOPSIS
Infonetics' security SaaS survey provides strategic recommendations for SaaS vendors and insights into companies and their plans to deploy security SaaS solutions, including deployment drivers and barriers, security budget plans, aided brand awareness ratings, and a vendor scorecard.
The scorecard provides respondent ratings of Cisco, Google/Postini, Qualys, ScanSafe, and zScaler on 8 criteria: technology, product roadmap, management, price-to-performance ratio (value), pricing, security, service and support, and financial stability.
Infonetics surveyed a panel of qualified IT decision-makers at 120 small, medium, and large companies in July 2009 about their plans to deploy software-as-a-service solutions for IT security.
