New Gold Assays at Sand Brook Gold Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 07 AUGUST 2009 FUNDY MINERALS LTD (PLUS MARKET: FUND) New Gold Assays at Sand Brook Gold Project The Board of Fundy Minerals Ltd ("Fundy" or "the Company"), the Canadian and West African exploration company, is pleased to report the results of assays from random samples collected at the Sand Brook gold project. Fire assays yielded gold results from trace to a high of 49.9 grams (1.5 ounces per tone value). The samples had gold values of 12.85 g/t, 18.9 g/t, 31.9 g/t, 33.9 g/t and 49.9 grams/tonne. Anomalously high Antimony values were also reported ranging from 1905 ppm to 7110 ppm in Sample S12, which also had 31.9 grams of gold reported. The samples were quartz based with significant mineralized sulfides, and metasediment rocks along the quartz veined stockworks. The metasediment samples reported trace gold values to 3.28 grams Au. As recently announced the Company completed a geophysical survey totaling 51.125 line kilometers of mag and vlf work that yielded eight new target zones, including two new areas known as the western and central zones, that had not been previously explored. Samples were randomly taken in small trenches in these zones and assayed at ALS Chemex labs in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The Sand Brook Gold claim group covers 43 claims (circa 1,720 acres) at Sand Brook Mountain, New Brunswick. Sand Brook is believed to be part of regional east to north east trending shear zone where gold is hosted in hydrothermic altered quartz stock works and adjoining metasediments and gabbroic intrusions. FreeWest Resources Canada Inc. hold claims adjoining the Sand Brook west zone (western claim boundary). Sand Brook has been geologically compared to Free West's Clarence Stream gold deposit, which has an Indicated Mineral Resource of 815,000 tonnes grading 8.99 g/t, and inferred Mineral Resource of 660,000 tonnes grading 7.35 g/t, for a total reported 391,000 ounces of gold. Additionally Clarence Stream reports an Indicated Mineral Resource of 7.3 million pounds of Antimony. Company Chief Geologist cited, "The assay results are of higher gold values than expected and extremely encouraging as they represent sampling along trenches at the central and western zones that were only recently surveyed with a magnetometer and vlf and having produced anomalous mag values. These are the highest gold assays in the history of Sand Brook. It is important to note that these high values are associated with Antimony. Much more work is warranted at Sand Brook as it represents an excellent gold prospect." Scientific or technical information relating to Fundy's activity is based on direct supervision of, or has been reviewed by, Paul Lemmon, PGeo., Chief Geologist of the Company. The Directors of the Issuer accept responsibility for this announcement. --ENDS-- For further information please contact: Fundy Minerals Ltd Tel. +1 416 238 0361 or +44 (0)207 669 4479 Jeff Michel, Chairman & CEO info@fundyminerals.com Daniel Stewart & Company Plc Tel. 020 7776 6550 Stewart Dick Fundy Minerals
