• Sears Holdings SHLD reported a wider third quarter loss than expected at $1.98 versus the expected $1.07, on revenues of $9.68 billion, off projections of $9.95 billion

• Staples SPLS posted one-cent besting third quarter results of $0.41, on in-line revenues of $6.5 billion

• Applied Materials AMAT announced nickel-better fiscal fourth quarter earnings of $0.36 on revenues of $2.89 billion, up from estimates of $2.6 billion

• Helmerich & Payne HP reported better-than-expected fiscal fourth quarter earnings of $0.77, up from estimates of $0.70, on revenues of $559 million, up from estimates of $510 million

• JM Smucker SJM reported fiscal second quarter earnings of $1.38 that topped estimates of $1.32, on revenues of $1.27 billion, shy of estimates of $1.3 billion

• Williams-Sonoma WSM reported third quarter earnings of $0.35 that bested estimates of $0.31, on revenues of $816 million, ahead of estimates of $798 million

• Humana HUM said it sees FY11 earnings of between $5.35 and $5.55 per share
