Timberland, Crocs Hoist Shoemakers

Shoemakers were one bright spot in an otherwise tough week for the market. Rubber clog maker Crocs (CROX) gained 7% for the week, taking out a new high. Rugged footwear maker Timberland (TBL) spiked 43% after VF (VFC), owner of Jansport, NorthFace and other brands, said it would buy the company for $2 billion. (VF shares jumped 12%.)
