Mike Pence Recalls Joe Biden's Job Advice: 'I'm Very Proud Of The Relationship I Had With President Trump'

Former Vice President Mike Pence recalled the advice he received from President Joe Biden during the presidential transition from Barack Obama to Donald Trump in 2016.

What Happened: During a NewsNation town hall event on Wednesday, Pence revealed that Biden suggested that he should “stay close to the president” during his tenure in the second top office, The Hill reported.

"He did give me some advice," Pence said, adding, "It was, ‘stay close to the president and build that relationship.' And I will tell you, for all the faults of the Obama-Biden years, they had a good working relationship."

Despite the perceived failures of the Obama-Biden administration, Pence highlighted the strong working relationship they managed to maintain. He also expressed satisfaction with his rapport with President Trump throughout their tenure.

"And I will tell you, It didn't end the way I wanted it to, but I'm very proud of the relationship I had with President Trump during our four years," Pence added.

Pence would "always be proud" of the Trump administration's accomplishments, the former V.P. added.

In his pursuit of the Republican nomination for 2024, Pence also criticized Biden’s presidency, claiming that his policies have placed economic burdens on Americans and weakened the nation’s global position.

Why It Matters: A recent national poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows Pence in fourth place in the GOP primary, behind former President Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

The former vice president’s comments come after a series of events that has soured his relationship with Trump. Pence has always defended his strategy of sparingly confronting Trump in public despite voter concerns.

However, Pence's relationship with Trump supporters has also been strained. His town hall in New Hampshire was met with protests from pro-Trump supporters. Moreover, after Trump's third indictment, Pence faced violent threats from extremist Trump supporters on a pro-Trump internet forum.
