This Is The Smartphone With The Best Camera In 2023, According To MKBHD

Apple Inc.’s AAPL iPhone 15 Pro has been declared the winner of the best camera category at the yearly MKBHD Smartphone Awards. Renowned YouTuber Marques Brownlee announced on Tuesday.

What Happened: Apple’s iPhones also won the Best Battery award, specifically for the iPhone 15 Plus model. The iPhone 15 Pro was praised for its consistent performance and innovative video features, including ProRes Log recording and direct external SSD storage.

Other winners included Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.’s SSNLF Galaxy S23 Ultra, which won Best Large Phone, and the Asus Zenfone 10, chosen as Best Small Phone. Samsung’s Galaxy A54 won the Best Value award.

Despite its hefty price tag, Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google Pixel 8 was named Phone of the Year for its improved display, unique software features, and Google’s seven-year software update commitment.

Why It Matters: The iPhone 15 Pro‘s victory in the camera category is significant, given that the phone’s camera was initially met with skepticism.

Users had raised concerns over the quality of the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s zoom feature. Despite this, the device was still touted as a camera powerhouse, having a triple camera setup that includes a 48MP primary camera, a 12MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide angle camera.

The accolades also follow mixed reviews at the device’s launch. While the cameras were deemed improved, they were not initially considered the best in terms of image quality. However, the recent win for the iPhone 15 Pro validates Apple’s efforts to enhance its smartphone camera technology.
