Split-Screen Updates And New Cinematics
One of the most exciting changes is the dynamic split-screen mode. This feature will allow players in co-op mode to merge their screens when they are near each other, making for a more seamless gaming experience. This update can be accessed directly from the HUD and within the game settings.
Additionally, Patch 7 will introduce new cinematics for evil endings. "From avatar Origin characters, including the Dark Urge, to multiple pathways that you can take as your own player character, each new cinematic is yours to discover through nefarious means," the post stated.
Bug Fixes And Modding Tools
Larian has also focused on ironing out numerous bugs. Notable fixes include improvements for the Dark Urge playthroughs, Origin character dialogues, and several character-specific bugs.
For instance, Wyll's romance scenes and dialogue reactivity have been improved, while Karlach's interactions with Dammon and Gale's donation UI have received significant tweaks.
The introduction of the Baldur’s Gate 3 Modding Toolkit is another major highlight. This toolkit will allow players to create and edit game content, ranging from items and cosmetics to classes and races.
Ongoing Updates And Future Plans
While Patch 7 is a significant milestone, Larian confirmed that it won't be the final update for Baldur's Gate 3.
Features like crossplay and a photo mode are still in development.
"It's hard to believe it's almost been an entire year since we launched Baldur's Gate 3. But the journey isn't over yet," Larian stated.
Despite the game's success, Larian has faced challenges. Speaking to Edge magazine, Larian boss Swen Vincke revealed that the numerous awards the game received had a notable impact on development.
“It affects development. There’s a lot of them,” Vincke said. The studio had to send rotating teams to collect these awards, which fragmented the development team and delayed their ability to move on to new projects.
