Isiah Thomas' One World Products Makes Strides In Sustainability With Strategic Hemp Innovations

NBA legend Isiah Thomas hemp company One World Products Inc. OWPC is celebrating its first royalty payment.

Over the years, OWP has formed alliances with industry operators such as Stellantis, Flex-N-Gate, Orbis, and West Michigan Compounding to integrate green practices into mainstream markets, especially the automotive industry.

“Our strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Stellantis, Flex-N-Gate, Orbis, and West Michigan Compounding are pivotal as we drive forward the integration of green practices into mainstream markets," said Thomas, OWP chairman and CEO. "With their support, we are setting new benchmarks for what it means to operate responsibly within the automotive industry.”

The NBA hall of famer and sports legend-turned cannabis entrepreneur is also famous because for his mission to produce hemp cars.

“I envision a future where the Fords, the GMs, the Stellantis’ of the world take plastics out of their automobiles and infuse them with industrial hemp to replace those plastics, thus reducing their carbon footprint,” Thomas told Benzinga’s Javier Hasse in a 2022 interview.

The global industrial hemp market is forecasted to reach $16.82 billion by 2030, expanding at a CAGR of 17.5% from 2024, according to the 2024 Grand View Research report. That said, OWP is capitalizing on the surge in hemp applications across various industries.

Meanwhile, OWP is advancing sustainable hemp-based packaging solutions in response to increasing demand for eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics.

The company, in collaboration with partners like Orbis and Flex-N-Gate, "offers viable, sustainable hemp-based packaging solutions that could dramatically reduce the ecological footprint of the packaging industry," OWP said in a press release.

Initially focused exclusively on Colombian cannabis operations, the company now embraces new opportunities as well, while the strategic shift ensures alignment with global sustainability goals and market demands.

Leveraging insights gained from Isiah Thomas’s extensive connections within the pro athlete community, OWP’s Pro-11 wellness line caters to the increasing consumer preference for eco-friendly and health-conscious options.
