FromSoftware's award-winning Elden Ring is a franchise fans won't need to say goodbye to just yet, but don't expect a direct sequel.

Speaking after Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree earned top honors at this year's PlayStation Awards, Miyazaki clarified the studio's direction.

“At this point, we are not considering developments such as “Elden Ring 2”, he said. “However, this does not mean that we are denying the development of the IP ‘Elden Ring’.”

He added: “As for ‘what will we do then?’, FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. Among them, there are various variations of projects, so I hope you will look forward to them.”

Moreover, the studio's parent company Kadokawa has acknowledged acquisition interest from Sony Group Corp. SONY.
