U.S. stocks traded mixed this morning, with the Nasdaq Composite falling over 1% on Monday.

The Dow traded up 0.26% to 42,049.01 while the NASDAQ dipped 1.24% to 18,923.36. The S&P 500 also fell, dropping, 0.61% to 5,791.47.

Energy shares rose by 1.7% on Monday.

In trading on Monday, utilities shares tumbled by 1.8%.

WD-40 Company WDFC posted better-than-expected results for its first quarter and reiterated its FY25 guidance on Friday.

  • Phio Pharmaceuticals Corp. PHIO shares shot up 453% to $9.35 after the company reported promising results of second cohort from its ongoing clinical study of PH-762.
  • Shares of Salarius Pharmaceuticals, Inc. SLRXgot a boost, surging 181% to $4.3064. Salarius Pharmaceuticals and Decoy Therapeutics announced a definitive merger agreement.
  • Kairos Pharma, Ltd. KAPA shares were also up, gaining 101% to $1.9701.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • Comstock Inc. LODE shares dropped 43% to $0.2998 after the company announced strategic expansion plans.
  • Shares of SRIVARU Holding Limited SVMH were down 34% to $0.0408. Srivaru Holding announced plans to implement 50-for-1 reverse share split on Jan. 15.
  • Comtech Telecommunications Corp. CMTL was down, falling 34% to $2.73 after the company announced downbeat quarterly results.

Commodities

In commodity news, oil traded up 1.6% to $77.82 while gold traded down 1% at $2,688.80.

Silver traded down 2.8% to $30.425 on Monday, while copper rose 0.6% to $4.3285.

Euro zone

European shares were lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 declined 0.5%, Germany's DAX 40 fell 0.3% and France's CAC 40 dipped 0.3%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 0.4%, while London's FTSE 100 slipped 0.3%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Monday, with China's Shanghai Composite Index falling 0.25%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index declining 1% and India's BSE Sensex falling 1.36%.

Economics

Data on consumer inflation expectations will be released today.
