  • Wall Street analysts are releasing upgrades for stocks, but not all are reliable.

With earnings in full swing, Wall Street's stock analysts are releasing upgrades left and right for stocks they think will soar. Above, you can see 10 of yesterday’s upgrades, including for META, from some of the best analysts in the business — and one you can ignore.

We know, because here at Benzinga, we not only keep track of every rating change and price target analysts set, but also of how accurate each analyst is.

That way you can decide whether these upgrades are worth your time. As you can see above, META, SEIC, and EW were just upgraded from Hold to Buy (or the equivalent) by analysts who are right 70% of the time or more.

That’s a powerful signal that these stocks deserve a closer look.

Meanwhile, you can also see that stocks such as PCRX, AKRO, and CVLT were handed upgrades by analysts who get it right less than half the time.

You’d be better off tossing a coin than following that advice.

The Benzinga analyst ratings tracker can show you upgrades and downgrades from many more analysts, including Tuesday’s upgrade on a little-known stock from an analyst who's right 80% of the time.
