MrBeast Is Writing A 'Squid Game' Style Thriller And Media Companies Are Ready To Bid Eight-Figures For The Rights

Content creator Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has conquered YouTube, with reality game shows, candy bars and many more items over the last few years.

He now has his eyes set on a novel that could launch him further into the media sector.

What Happened: MrBeast is the co-author of a new thriller novel with bestselling author and award winner James Patterson. The book's release could be the next venture from the content creator after his recent "Beast Games" reality competition.

"Beast Games" was a huge ratings hit for Amazon.com Inc.’s AMZN streaming platform Prime Video. MrBeast said he lost money on the record-breaking game show, which could make him pickier for a new partner on the media rights to the book.

The novel is currently titled "The Most Dangerous Game," sources told Deadline. The title could change with other names still under consideration according to the report.

The thriller is set in the world of survivalism and is similar to "Squid Game," according to the report.

UTA represents the rights to the book and has received "eight-figure offers" for the novel, film and television rights to the unreleased book.

"Players fight to survive deadly tests held in dangerous locations around the world, as they battle to become ‘The One,'” a logline for the book reads, according to the report.

A nonfiction book that accompanies the fictional thriller could also be part of the bidding package, Deadline said.

Why It's Important: Patterson is one of the world's highest-grossing authors and has had several of his books turned into movies and television series.

MrBeast is the most subscribed person on YouTube with over 375 million subscribers. He has further ventured into other areas and his recent success with "Beast Games" could show a willingness to make long-form content along with his typical YouTube videos.

The company or companies that win the bidding rights for the book and potential movie or television series will be closely watched as they could get a boost from the well-known names of both MrBeast and Patterson attached.
