Elon Musk's SpaceX Rockets To New Heights With 230th Launch

Elon Musk‘s SpaceX has completed 230 launches in total with the Falcon 9 launch of 56 Starlink satellites on Sunday.

What Happened: SpaceX launched 56 Starlink satellites to low-earth orbit from Florida on Sunday at 1:03 a.m. ET.

With the new launch, SpaceX has completed 230 launches in total since its first launch attempt in 2006.

Why It Matters: SpaceX completed 26 launches in 2020, 31 in 2021, and nearly doubled it to 61 last year. In 2023, SpaceX commenced launches with the Falcon 9 launch of Transporter-6, SpaceX's sixth dedicated smallsat rideshare mission, on Jan. 3.

According to an analysis by astronomer Jonathan McDowell last updated on May 14 evening, Starlink now has 4,127 satellites in orbit, of which 3,439 are operational.

Since the onset of May, SpaceX has launched three Starlink missions. The rocket manufacturer collectively launched 163 satellites since the onset of the month.

In late March, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that over 70 launches are expected for SpaceX for the remainder of 2023.
