Regulators Consider Forbidding Comcast From Withholding Video To Competitors, Oppenheimer Reports

In its Daily Datatimes (November 11, 2010), Oppenheimer reports that as the deal between Comcast Corporation CMCSA and General Electric Company's GE NBC – in which Comcast would take control of the number-four TV network – regulators are considering whether to forbid Comcast from withholding online video from competitors. “Per Comcast, NBC broadcast programs available on the nbc.com website for online viewing will continue to be available in that fashion,” Oppenheimer writes. “Current consensus is that the FCC will not recommend restrictions, although this is an issue to keep an eye on. We still expect the deal to close by YE10.”
