Citi seems to be quite impressed with Microsoft's MSFT presentation at E3 2011.
“Much of Microsoft's keynote reinforced the strength of the Xbox ecosystem validated by broader Kinect adoption and a growing library of digital content,” Citi writes. “Don Mattrick indicated at the briefing that Microsoft would look to increase partnerships and highlighted content deals with YouTube, the UFC and a number of live TV streaming television providers (Sky TV, Foxtel, Canal), further increasing the value of an Xbox live subscription.
“However, we don't believe Microsoft is trying to replicate what Netflix NFLX or Apple AAPL has built. Instead by incorporating Bing universal search into Xbox, it will look to be a ‘virtual TV Guide' enabling users to find all the content available to them through various ‘channels.'”
Microsoft closed Wednesday at $23.94.
