“CEO Ballmer officially launched Office 365 today culminating what was one of Microsoft's MSFT largest beta programs involving ~200k customers. Office 365 offers multiple Cloud based productivity solutions for SMBs and enterprises with prices ranging from $2 - $27/user/month,” Bank of America wrote in a report today.
“In-line with our thesis following the beta announcement last year, SMBs appear to be the primary target as Office 365 offers an easy to use Cloud offering vs. IT resources required for having Office tools on premise. In addition, this subscription offering can also potentially help MSFT increase adoption by curbing piracy as well as keeping SMB users on their latest version with latest features (SMB customers using old Office versions seem to be a fertile ground for encroaching by competitive products like Google GOOG docs).”
Microsoft closed Tuesday at $25.80.
