Developer Momentum Extremely Strong For iOS And Android (AAPL, GOOG, MSFT, RIMM, NOK)

According to a report from Global Equities Research, checks at a recent mobile event suggest that fundamentals for Apple AAPL are extremely strong, while fundamentals at Research in Motion RIMM and Nokia NOK are very weak. The analysts also added that fundamentals are improving for Motorola MOT and investors should expect 3 new tablets in the first half of 2011. According to the report, the Microsoft MSFT Phone 7 is a "non-event." Incremental data from the event suggests that developer momentum for Apple iOS and Google GOOG Android is extremely strong. On the other hand, developer momentum is "extremely weak" for RIMM Blackberry OS, NOK Meego and "almost non-existant for MSFT's Phone 7. For the iOS, Apple's X-Code and Interface continues to be the developer tool of choice for creating both iPhone and iPad applications. For Android, Motorola's MotoDev and Google's App Inventor seem to be the toll of choice for developers. The analysts believe that it will be "extremely difficult" for NOK, RIMM and MSFT to be successful in the mobile space. They sighted the companies flawed strategic focus, which attempts to be carrier friendly, as opposed to Google and Apple's focus on App developers and Platform Providers. As a result, these companies are having a difficult time attracting developers and have not adjusted to the shifting balance of power from carriers to Applications and Platforms.
