In a report published by Goldman Sachs, Netease NTES has announced that the open beta (OB) testing of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty in China will start on March 29.
Goldman Sachs said that the game will initially be free for trial and then the commercial launch will follow, for which Netease has not specified any timeline. “Netease plans to offer free download, but would charge games on monthly subscription (Rmb20 per month), versus most online games in China using an item-based or time-based revenue model. We maintain our Neutral rating and 12-m target price.”
Netease closed yesterday at $43.47.
