ChargePoint, Siemens Power EV Revolution As eVTOL Industry Prepares For Liftoff

Zinger Key Points
  • ChargePoint and Siemens focus on advanced EV charging solutions to drive growth in the nascent clean tech market.
  • eVTOL tech poised for U.S. adoption with FAA regulations; Saudi Arabia targets large-scale rollout by 2026.

The clean tech revolution is advancing rapidly, with both electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure playing pivotal roles.

Companies like ChargePoint Holdings Inc CHPT and Siemens AG SIEGY are key players shaping the future of sustainable mobility, according to insights from JPMorgan analyst Bill Peterson.

ChargePoint's Vision For EV Charging

ChargePoint is staying ahead in the EV charging space, focusing on real-time charger visibility, AI-driven reliability, and power-sharing technology to boost efficiency.

They’re also developing vehicle-to-home charging, which would allow EVs to serve as backup power for homes.

However, Peterson notes that near-term efforts will likely center on standardizing DC charging speeds and lowering costs to promote further adoption.

Siemens' Strategic Move

Siemens plans to spin off its EV charging business, following the path of ABB, by merging with fast-charging specialist Heliox.

The move is expected to drive growth, especially in heavy-duty electric vehicles like trucks and buses. Peterson views this separation as a positive signal, indicating long-term confidence in the EV market.

eVTOL: Poised For Takeoff

In the skies, eVTOL technology is gaining momentum. The FAA is set to release key regulations in October, making it easier for eVTOL manufacturers to move forward.

Peterson views this as a significant leap for the industry, which has struggled with challenges such as pilot training and safety regulations.

Saudi Arabia is pushing to be an early adopter, aiming for large-scale eVTOL operations by 2026. However, challenges remain, especially after public opposition halted a demonstration at the Paris Olympics.

Peterson warns that U.S. companies may face similar hurdles ahead of the 2028 LA Olympics.

As EVs and eVTOLs accelerate, the next few years will be crucial in balancing innovation with community concerns.
