The investor note comes after a meeting with Microsoft's VP of Investor Relations Jonathan Nielson and his team.
"We leave increasingly confident that Microsoft is investing prudently ahead of a growing demand as AI moves from the Infrastructure to the Application layer," Rangan said.
The analyst said they gain more conviction on Microsoft's investment and AI opportunities.
"We believe the modest weakness in Azure non-AI workloads is fixable as Microsoft adjusts its incentive structures. At the same time, we continue to believe that AI Services can show further momentum as AI use cases move to the Application layer."
Rangan said Microsoft's earnings per share should reaccelerate as higher spending moderates and the company benefits from several higher margin efforts.
"We see Microsoft continuing to demonstrate a prudent AI investment strategy, with an eye towards long term returns."
The analyst said Microsoft's AI investments are spread out across hardware and geography. This shows the company's long-term focus on the growing technology.
Microsoft's 365 and Azure are just two products that could grow in coming quarters, the analyst said. They’ll show how the company's investments and growth in AI are paying off.
"We believe Microsoft is one of the most compelling investment opportunities in the technology industry and across sectors."
