Five Stocks to Consider When Hosting Your Own British Royal Wedding

If the thought of watching Kate and William meander down the aisle in style has you reaching for your diary, tissues, or bridal magazines, perhaps it is time to consider hosting your own royal wedding. Of course, putting together a royal wedding without royal financing could be a sticking point for most folks. Chances are, if you read Benzinga.com, you'd rather make money than spend money, so perhaps the best way to honor Friday's royal wedding is to see what sorts of stocks might instead win your heart. Intercontinental Hotels Group IHG With an estimated 600,000 tourists flocking to the motherland, British tourism and hospitality companies are in a prime position to make serious money this weekend. Who better to benefit than IHG, which owns hotels across England, including some in prime spots for the wedding weekend? IHG is trading up $0.18 to $21.93, a gain of 0.83% on the day. 1-800-FLOWERS.COM FLWS What's a wedding without flowers? (Perhaps an elaborate graduation party?) In any case, wedding season is flower season and business just might boom this year. Tie in Mother's day (May 8th) and the Easter season that just passed, and flower companies might show some promise. 1-800-FLOWERS also has a nice market share and is positioned to deliver across the globe. FLWS stock is trading down $0.22 to $3.37, a loss of 6.13% on the day. Roche Holding (RHHBY) Wedding season brings with it more than just bachelor parties, nuptials and prenuptials. It also brings unceasing panic for the bride, groom, and anyone who has to make a toast before the open bar gets underway. With that in mind, consider Roche, the maker of anti-anxiety drug Klonopin. While not as fast-acting as some other benzos, Klonopin gives a smooth release from anxiety while avoiding a big crash -- meaning it's probably safe for grandma to take one. Roche's stock is up $0.15 to $39.09, a gain of 0.39% on the day. Timberland TBL The bad news for the prince and his bride-to-be is the London forecast calls for rain showers on Friday. The answer to a wall of spectators and two cheerful families, lining the London streets in a rainstorm? Umbrellas! Timberland makes some of the most interesting umbrellas on the market, including some romantic two-person models -- perfect for a rainy wedding day! Timberland is down $0.13 to $44.47, a loss of 0.29% on the day. Diageo DEO While you might not have heard of the company, the odds are good you've heard of their brands. Included in Diageo's portfolio are premium brands Smirnoff vodka, Johnnie Walker scotch whisky, Baileys Original Irish Cream liqueur, Captain Morgan rum, JeB scotch whisky, Tanqueray gin and Guinness stout. In addition it also has the distribution rights for the Jose Cuervo tequila brands in North America and many other markets. Diageo's beer brands include the global stout brand, Guinness. Considering it's a wedding in London, is there a better play than British Gin and Irish Guinness? DEO is up $1.48 to $80.75, a gain of 1.87% on the day.
