Shaw Awarded Contract to Operate Sediment Processing Facility for General Electric

The Shaw Group Inc. SHAW today announced that its Environmental & Infrastructure Group has been awarded a contract to operate the sediment processing facility for the second phase of the General Electric Company's GE Hudson River dredging project. The facility is located in Fort Edward, N.Y., and includes a barge terminal, dewatering building, water treatment plant and railroad staging area. Shaw provided similar operations and maintenance services for the project's first phase, which was conducted in 2009. “For decades, Shaw has provided advanced services that help restore and maintain the quality of our nation's air, water and soil,” said George Bevan, president of Shaw's Environmental & Infrastructure Group. “This award builds on our successful history with GE and this important sediment remediation project undertaken for the benefit of the environment and the community.” In 2002 GE committed to working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to remove sediment containing polychlorinated biphenyls from the Upper Hudson River. Dredging began in 2009 following years of analysis, planning and the design and construction of a processing facility to support remediation efforts.
