This week sees the start of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London, England. As English events this year go, Wimbledon is far more interesting than the Royal Wedding. Will it rain heavily, as tradition dictates? How many strawberries with cream will be consumed? Which female player will have the loudest grunt? Anyway, here are five stocks to get you into the Wimbledon mood.
Shanda Games GAME
There are few words tennis players like to hear more than “game” besides, perhaps, “set” and “match”. Shanda Games is an online gaming company, and so it actually has very little to do with tennis besides that ticker.
Best Buy BBY
Bored of watching tennis? Want to join in and play some tennis? Don't have the space or equipment? Pull out the Nintendo Wii and play in the comfort of your own living room.
Dick's Sporting Goods DKS
OR you could buy yourself a racket and some balls, grab a friend and dash over to the local courts. The fresh air will do you good.
Whole Foods WFM
The tournament might be across the Atlantic, but Americans can get into the spirit of things while watching the TV by getting some fresh strawberries and cream. A glass of champagne and you're off and running. Just don't try a fake British accent.
Ball Corporation BLL
There is no tennis without balls. Ball Corp. supplies metal packaging to the beverage, food and household products industries so the link is tenuous, but still, I'm going to run with it.
