China Unicom Gets Lift From 3G, iPhone

China Unicom, China's No. 2 wireless phone company, is getting a lift from 3G wireless broadband services. U.S. shares in China Unicom (CHU) have shot up 48% in 2011, while No. 1 China Mobile (CHL) has sagged nearly 10%. China Unicom traded near all-time highs in early 2008 before tougher competition kicked in. Its profit plunged in late 2009 and 2010 as it spent heavily to build out a 3G network.
