On this day in 1981, Mark David Chapman pled guilty to killing John Lennon. Thankfully, his punishment meant that he was never able to shoot down another musical genius. It didn't help the Beatles though. It could be argued that Ringo Starr never recovered, at one point narrating the “Thomas the Train” TV show in the UK. Here are five stocks to help remember Lennon and, in a different way, Chapman.
Apple AAPL
As well as Steve Jobs' mega tech company, Apple was also the name of the Beatles' own record label. There was, at one time, a debate over usage of the name when Apple started working with music. Thankfully for all concerned, an agreement was reached.
The Men's Wearhouse MW
Where else would the Beatles go to buy one of their famous suits? Smart style at reasonable prices should make a working class guy from Liverpool happy.
Dreams DRJ
”You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.” Not if you don't want to distribute sports equipment like this company, John.”
Papa John's PZZA
Julian and Sean would sure like a slice of pie from this place. IMAGINE how good it'll taste. If you have some, I'll be a JEALOUS GUY.
British American Tobacco BTI
It's British AND American. John and the boys would love it, stuffed down a peace pipe.
