Despite the fact that Microsoft MSFT is offering an entire Xbox 360 with the purchase of a $700 Windows PC, Apple AAPL is beating the company eight to two in the area of back to school sales.
That's according to Global Equities Research, which released a report on the matter late last night.
“Apple Back to School sale off to a strong start beating Microsoft 8 to 2,” Global Equities Research writes. “Our research indicates that ~80% of incoming students are buying Apple computers vs. Windows computers. Incrementally more students, who are enrolled in the online university, such as Phoenix Online, are buying Apple computers – this was not necessarily the case last year.”
This all but confirms that it doesn't matter how much or how little Apple offers, consumers still prefer Mac.
Perhaps Microsoft could use a few tips on how to sell a Windows PC?
