Macy's Inc M reported a 6.7% rise in its June same-store sales and lifted its estimate of sales for the fiscal second quarter. Macy's total sales in June surged 7.5% to $2.39 billion from $2.23 billion. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to rise 5.1%. Macy's now projects Q2 same-store sales to rise 6%, up from its previous forecast of 5%. Macy's projects fiscal-year comparable sales to increase 4.8%, versus its previous estimate of 4.5%.
J.C. Penney Co Inc JCP reported a 2% rise in its June comparable-store sales. Analysts were expecting a 2.3% rise in comparable-store sales. The retailer's total sales for the five weeks ended July 2 dropped 0.3% to $1.55 billion.
Stage Stores Inc SSI reported a 1.8% rise in its June sales at stores open at least a year. Stage Stores' total sales for the five-week period ending July 2 surged 3.4% to $134 million. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to increase 1.5%.
Dillard's Inc DDS reported a 6% rise in its June same-store sales. Dillard's net sales climbed 4.9% y/y to $531.4 million from $506.4 million. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to rise 3.3%.
Costco Wholesale Corp COST reported a 14% rise in its June sales at stores open at least a year. Costco's total sales for the five-week period ending July 3 surged 18% to $8.69 billion. Its US same-store sales climbed 12%, while growth at the international business came in at 18%. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to increase 12.7%. Excluding the impact of gasoline prices and foreign exchange, Costco's same-store sales rose 8% y/y.
Limited Brands Inc LTD reported a 12% jump in its June same-store sales. The retailer's total sales also surged 12% to $1.08 billion from $965.4 million. Analysts were expecting a rise of 3.8% for same-store sales in June.
Saks Inc SKS reported an 11.9% surge in its June sales at stores open at least one year. Analysts were expecting same-store sales to surge 7%. The retailer's total sales for the five weeks ended July 2 climbed 8.7% to $258.6 million.
TJX Companies TJX reported an 8% rise in its June sales. TJX's June sales came in at $2.1 billion. TJX's same-store sales for the same five-week period ended July 2 surged 5%. Analysts were expecting a 2.2% rise in same-store sales. TJX projects earnings of $0.81 to $0.86 per share. Analysts expected earnings of $0.85 per share.
