UK retailer Marks & Spencer Group PLC MAKSF reported that its total group sales, excluding value added tax, increased 3.2% in its fiscal first quarter.
The group's comparable UK sales rose 1.7%. Analysts were expecting a 1.5% rise in same-store sales.
MAKSF shares gained 1% to close at $6.08 yesterday.
