By 10:40 am, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 137.48 points, or 1.10%, to 12,342.25, while the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index had dropped 13.14 points, or 1.00%. The NASDAQ composite index fell 30.49 points, or 1.09%.
Some of the narrow based indexes that are still afloat in the markets are Fuel Cell Stocks, which have gained 3.6%, Gold and Silver Stocks, up 2.2%, and Contract Research Outsourcing Stocks, moving 1.8% higher as a group.
In Tickerspy's Fuel Cell complex, Ener1 Inc HEV had surged 25.8%. HEV received approval from the Chinese government for their joint venture.
The best performing Tickerspy Gold and Silver stock has been Crystallex International Corp CRYXF, which was up 17.3%. CRYXF shares have dropped 71.79% over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 23.60% in the same period.
Pharmaceutical Product Development Inc PPDI is today's leading Tickerspy's Contract Research Outsourcing stock, gaining 16.2%. According to The Wall Street Journal, PPDI is exploring a sale.
