According to a report from Billboard, Spotify has officially hit 70,000 paid accounts in the United States, just a week after launching in the country. Spotify launched in the U.S. last week and was met well with most people in the country. Before launching in the U.S., Spotify had 10 million registered users, with 1.6 million paying for the service.
Spotify also released a statement to Billboard:
The launch of Spotify in the US has exceeded our expectations in both the response to invitations for the free service as well as subscriptions. We aren't going to discuss numbers at this stage but we are excited to be here and confident that Americans will love Spotify as much as they already do in Europe.
