Goldman Sachs Comments on Volatility

Goldman Sachs commented on market volatility. In a research report published today, Goldman named companies it believes are best investment in these volatile times. In the report, Goldman states, “In the face of a flattish S&P 500 we encourage investors to utilize straddles as a method to capture increased single stock volatility around earnings events. In this report, we highlight which names show the most historical volatility around their earnings events and suggest four trades to capture that potential move. Indeed, with significant price volatility this quarter in names such as GOOG, COF, MHS, MTG, we see continued high returns for volatility buying strategies. Our top ideas are buying PCLN, FSLR, LEAP and GRMN August straddles.” On Tuesday, Priceline.com PCLN added 0.74% to its value to finish the day at $533.67, while First Solar FSLR lost 0.27% of its value on to finish the day at $120.27. In today's pre-market trading, FSLR fell 1.06% to stand around $19. Leap Wireless LEAP lost 1.83% of its value on Tuesday to end the day at $14.48. Finally, Garmin GRMN added 0.92% to its value to end the day at $32.86.
