UPDATE: Humana Reports Upbeat Q2 Profit, Raises FY11 Earnings Forecast

Humana Inc HUM reported a 35% rise in its second-quarter profit and lifted its earnings outlook for the year. Humana reported its quarterly earnings at $460.3 million, or $2.71 per share, up from $340.1 million, or $2 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue came in at $9.28 billion. Humana's adjusted income came in at $2.50 per share. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $2.05 per share on revenue of $9.28 billion. Humana raised its FY11 earnings outlook to a range of $7.50 to $7.60 per share, up from its earlier forecast of $6.70 to $6.90 per share. Humana shares fell 0.56% to close at $74.58 on Friday.
