The little-known, ultra-pricey Bose VideoWave Entertainment System could be the blueprint for Apple's first television.
That's according to Global Equities Research, which, after speaking with numerous developers, believes it has formed a converged view of Apple's AAPL impending HDTV that is 75% accurate.
“Apple HDTV will probably be launched in March 2012, with a lot of developer sessions at WWDC in June of 2012,” Global Equities predicts. “Apple HDTV is being benchmarked against Bose VideoWave HDTV.”
Global Equities said that while Bose reduced the number of cabling to only three, Apple's HDTV will “probably have only one.” Further, Global Equities expects Apple's television to be roughly two inches thick and feature 16 speakers – the same number of speakers featured in the VideoWave Entertainment System.
Global Equities also believes that Apple will launch its TV in three sizes and three price points.
“The DSP chip in Apple HDTV is a brand new chip based on Apple's acquisition of PA Semi,” the researcher adds. “As of now, this new chip is not in mass production.”
With all these comparisons to Bose, you might be wondering how much the 46-inch VideoWave Entertainment System costs. The current retail price is $5,349.00 for just the TV and $5,599.00 with installation.
As pricey as Apple products are, something tells me the company will not charge that much for a new TV.
