Mylan Launches Generic Version of Uroxatral® Tablets

Mylan Inc. MYL today announced that its subsidiary Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has shipped Alfuzosin Hydrochloride Extended-release Tablets, 10 mg. This product is the generic version of Uroxatral®, a treatment for signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, or an enlarged prostate. Uroxatral® Tablets had U.S. sales of approximately $241 million for the 12 months ending June 30, 2011, according to IMS Health. Currently, Mylan has 162 ANDAs pending FDA approval representing $94.4 billion in annual sales, according to IMS Health. Forty-three of these pending ANDAs are potential first-to-file opportunities, representing $25.5 billion in annual brand sales, for the 12 months ending June 30, 2011, according to IMS Health.
