If the $499 iPad 2 is too expensive for your tastes, Vizio has a lower-cost solution – now with Hulu Plus support.
Vizio is bragging today that it has produced the first Android tablet that can play Hulu Plus. Simply referred to as the Vizio 8" Tablet, Business Insider reports that this $299 iPad competitor is one of 10 Android devices on the Hulu-approved list. Vizio just happens to be the first.
The tablet looks pretty snazzy; if you have a Vizio TV, you can use the device as a giant TV remote.
Hulu Plus is currently available for $7.99 per month. There are not any tablets slated to play Hulu without the Plus subscription, but it should be interesting to see if that changes once the company is acquired. Something tells me that Amazon AMZN would happily give consumers free Hulu access in exchange for a new tablet purchase.
Of course, that new Amazon tablet is sure to cost much more than anything Vizio or HP HPQ attempted to sell.
