Hacker Forces Nokia to Shut Down Developer Forum

If you thought you had a bad weekend, talk to Nokia; its weekend was probably worse. Nokia NOK, the troubled cell phone manufacturer that many insiders expected Microsoft MSFT to acquire, is having a bit of trouble this morning following a hacker infiltration last week. TechCrunch reports that, after a hacker gained access to forum members' e-mail address, Nokia decided to go the safe route and temporarily shut down the developer community website. “The hacker last week exploited a vulnerability in the bulletin board software that allowed an SQL Injection attack that in turn enabled him (or her) to deface the forum website,” TechCrunch wrote. Nokia has since e-mailed members of the developer forum to alert them of the issue. Somewhere around seven percent of these users birthdates and online messenger usernames – such as ICQ, Skype and Yahoo! GOOG Messenger – may have also been viewed by the hacker. On the upside, the hacker was not able to acquire anyone's password, nor was he or she able to uncover any credit card information.
