Early Volume Plays Among Those Valued Below $10 (WAVX, ABAT, ZLC, ZAGG)

Some of the stocks that are valued below $10 and have the potential to become one of the high volume movers in the early trading hours are: Wave Systems WAVX recorded a narrower Q1 net loss of $0.01 a share, versus a net loss of $0.02 a share in the year-ago period. WAVX’s revenue climbed 45% year-over-year to $5.86 million. The hardware-based digital-security company informed that it has paid $1.1 million of cash to acquire two patents related to security subsystems for storage devices. The stock was trading at $3.76, up 9.94% in the pre-market session. WAVX has a 50-day average daily share volume of 842,000. Advanced Battery Technologies ABAT reported a Q1 profit of $0.11 a share on revenue of $19.53 million, beating the consensus of $0.07 a share on a revenue of $18.8 million. At 9:37 am, the share was trading at $3.30, down 1.20%. ABAT’s 50-day average daily volume is 778,000. Zale ZLC, a jewelry retailer, announced that it has taken a new five-year term loan from a private equity firm, Golden Gate Capital, worth $150 million. Golden Gate will receive warrants, which on execution, will convert to a 25% equity interest in ZLC on a fully diluted basis. By 9:50 am, shares of ZLC had soared 8.33% to $3.25. Zagg ZAGG posted Q1 earnings of $0.03 a share on sales of $8.8 million, easily exceeding the Street view of $0.04 a share on sales of $10.6 million.
